By downloading, installing, or using Zerizut ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
2. Description of Service
Zerizut is a spiritual growth tracking application designed to help you maintain consistent spiritual practices, track daily habits, and connect with the rhythm of the Jewish day. The App provides:
- Daily practice tracking with customizable checklists
- All Mitzvot Library with hundreds of practices organized by category
- Starter Packs - curated collections for specific occasions and goals
- Jolt Level System - personalize your motivation intensity (Gentle, Power, or Lightning)
- Streak tracking and achievement system with milestone celebrations
- Prayer time calculations (zmanim) based on location
- Digital tzedakah box with weekly goals and fulfillment tracking
- Smart recommendations for personalized practice suggestions
- Achievement gallery with unlockable badges
- Practice analytics and progress insights
- Interactive tutorial system
- Data export and import for transferring between devices
- Educational content and spiritual guidance
3. Privacy and Data
Your Data Stays on Your Device
Zerizut is designed with privacy as a core value. All data you create in the App is stored locally on your device. We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal data, practices, or spiritual journey information to any external servers.

4. User Responsibilities
You agree to:
- Use the App only for lawful purposes
- Not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Not use the App in any way that could damage, disable, or impair the App
- Maintain the security of your device and data
- Use the App in accordance with its intended spiritual purpose
5. Location Services
The App requests location permission to provide accurate prayer times (zmanim) based on your geographic location. Location data is used only for calculations and is not stored or transmitted. You can disable location services in your device settings, though this may affect the accuracy of prayer time calculations.
6. Notifications
The App may send you local notifications for reminders and spiritual guidance. You can control notification preferences in the App settings. Notifications respect Shabbat and Jewish holidays when configured.
7. Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, features, and content, is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the App without explicit permission.
Educational content, quotes, and spiritual guidance within the App are provided for personal spiritual growth. Torah quotes and Jewish texts are used in accordance with fair use and traditional educational purposes.
8. Third-Party Services
The App may use third-party services for:
- Hebcal API: For accurate zmanim (prayer time) calculations
- Google Analytics 4: For optional, opt-in analytics (web users only)
- EmailJS: For processing feedback form submissions
- Stripe: For processing voluntary donations on our external website
- Location Services: Provided by your device's operating system
These services are subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the availability or accuracy of third-party services.
8.5. Analytics (Optional)
Zerizut offers optional, opt-in analytics for web users. This feature:
- Is completely optional - you must explicitly enable it in Settings > Privacy
- Only works on the web version - not active on iOS or Android native apps
- Tracks anonymous usage patterns, feature adoption, and crash reports
- Never tracks personal data, practice details, location, or personal information
- Uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) for data collection
- Can be disabled at any time in Settings
Analytics helps us improve the app experience. Your participation is voluntary and does not affect app functionality.
9. Donations and Support
The App includes a "Become a Zerizut Ambassador" option that opens an external web page for voluntary donations. This feature is designed to support our mission of keeping Zerizut free and ad-free.
Important: The "Become a Zerizut Ambassador" option opens an external web page for voluntary donations processed securely by Stripe. No digital content is unlocked. Donations are voluntary and do not unlock app features.
All donations are processed through Stripe Checkout on our external website (zerizut.com/support). The App does not process payments internally. Donations are completely voluntary and do not affect your access to any features or content within the App.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. While we strive for accuracy in prayer time calculations and spiritual content, we do not guarantee:
- Absolute accuracy of zmanim calculations (always consult with your local rabbi for halachic decisions)
- Completeness of spiritual content
- Uninterrupted or error-free operation
- Compatibility with all devices or operating system versions
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Zerizut and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of the App.
12. Account Deletion
You can delete all your data at any time using the "Delete All Data" option in the App's Settings. This action is irreversible and will permanently remove all practices, streaks, achievements, and settings from your device.
13. Modifications to the Service
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the App or any part of it at any time with or without notice. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation.
14. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the App is operated, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
